Seattle Man HOSPITALIZED After Savage Street Attack

A 77-year-old man spent over a week in a Seattle hospital with a broken arm, broken knee, and facial injuries after two men attacked him without provocation on a downtown street. One suspect walked free before his bail hearing, and the second remains at large.

Brutal Assault Caught on Camera

Seattle police released surveillance footage from the Real Time Crime Center showing the April 19 assault at Pike Street in downtown Seattle. The video captures two men approaching the elderly victim as he walks slowly toward them. Without warning, they shove him to the ground and repeatedly punch him before casually walking away. The victim remained hunched on the ground, unable to stand, while bystanders failed to offer assistance. Police later found the suspects at a nearby McDonald’s.

Suspect Released Before Bail Hearing

Officers arrested 29-year-old Ahmed Abdullahi Osman of Bellevue, Washington, charging him with second-degree assault. However, authorities released Osman from jail before a bail hearing while the investigation continued. An arrest warrant wasn’t issued until April 30, eleven days after the attack. Prosecutors requested $200,000 bail. The second suspect has not been apprehended. According to police reports, the victim told investigators he had just gotten off the bus when the unprovoked attack occurred.

Mayor Criticized as Suspect Remains Free

After his arrest, Osman reportedly shouted support for Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, known for policies critics call soft on crime. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about public safety in Seattle’s downtown area and the catch-and-release approach to violent offenders. Both attackers now walk Seattle’s streets freely while their victim recovered from serious injuries requiring extended hospitalization. The victim suffered multiple fractures and significant facial trauma from the assault.

Pattern of Violence Goes Unchecked

The attack represents growing frustration among Seattle residents over street violence and inadequate responses from the justice system. The surveillance footage shows a defenseless elderly man targeted by much younger assailants who faced no immediate consequences. Community members question why a suspect charged with brutally assaulting a senior citizen would be released before formal bail proceedings, especially when a second violent offender remains unidentified and free.
